Summer Bucket List

June 1, 2018

Every summer for as long as I can remember, my dad would ask me and my siblings to come up with three things we wanted to do before we headed back to school. It could be anything. Obviously we were realistic, but it could be as big or small as we liked. Trying something new or exploring a new place, it was up to us. A summer bucket list of sorts.

I’m still not sure whether I should mark the start of my summer as the moment I finished my last final or when I moved out. Regardless, I’m already over three weeks in!

So the question is, what are my summer three? What are the three main things I want to do this summer?

Visit a friend.

I have a couple of friends who live rather far away, and I’m in the mood for some travel. This summer I want to go visit one of these friends, and go on a couple of adventures. Why not?

Go in the ocean.

Last summer may have been the first summer of my entire life that I didn’t end up in the ocean. Madness! So this summer, it’s going to happen. I’ll be spending a week at the beach, and fingers crossed I’ll be up to going out into the ocean at least once!

Clean my room.

Alright, hear me out. Last summer, I started to want to move more towards minimalism. Not to be a full on minimalist, but to rid myself of the things I’ve held on to for far too long. Having spent a year away from my room while at college, I think it will be easier to go through things and really do a deep clean. I’m trying not to get too far ahead of myself, or bite off more than I can chew, but I think doing a full deep clean is a great idea.

And now that it’s out there on the internet, I better get to it!

These are the three main things I want to try to accomplish this summer.

But that’s not all! Below are a couple smaller things I’m doing (or planning to do) this summer:

  • I’m taking two online classes and fully intend to pass both with flying colors. Fingers crossed!
  • I’m hoping to spiffy up the blog, and make sure all my old posts have the same bells and whistles as my new ones!
  • Going through my clothes and handing off the things I no longer wear.
  • Eat a snowball whenever there’s the opportunity. I love snowballs!
  • Include more photos in blog posts! We’ll see how this goes, I make no promises.
  • Finish watching the Mindy Project. I’m so close to being done!
  • Do a couple of DIYs. I have a few in mind that I think would be perfect for my room when I move back to college in August. Of course, if they go well I’ll share them on here too!

What are your plans for the upcoming season?

Is there something you’ve been wanting to try for a while? Now is as good a time as any to give it a go! Shows you want to watch, recipes you want to try, experiences you want to have; let me know what you’re hoping to do this season in the comments! I want to hear from you!

These all sound like such good things for your summer bucket list! What two classes are you taking?

My goal is to also post more photos in my blog posts. I’m great at doing this in my travel posts, but in any other type of post I’m terrible at it. (Oops.)

I’ve found it so difficult trying to figure out how to incorporate relevant photos in other kinds of posts! Posts like this one for example. We’ll figure it out though!

I’m taking an English course and a history course. They start Monday!

I’m on a break right now and usually I try to plan out everything I’m going to get done as well, but this time I went the other way and I’ve just been trying to relax and de-stress.

Normally I wouldn’t try for quite so many plans, but I have too much that actually needs to be done this season!

I had a late spring clean (it was literally the last day of Spring) and it’s been one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done. Giving away clothes I no longer see with my casual eye to charities and people who can benefit from them more than myself is a subtly great cause.

Your bucket list is really good, I like how manageable you’ve made them. Would love to hear how you got on with eating snowballs though haha :p

Thank you – manageable was the goal! And snowballs are coming along well… I’m sure when I’m on vacation I’ll find my way to more of them!
