Spring Break Review 2019

March 18, 2019

Spring Break 2019. Don’t get your hopes up, I didn’t have any wild adventures. No sunburns (but a few snow days). It’s been a week. In the end, it was a good week. I am so, so glad that I was able to get home and have this time off.

Spring Break Sophomore Year Review

There were some unplanned occurrences that took my flawlessly laid out plans of tackling my studies, and some things got pushed off. In the end, I’m totally okay with not getting to do everything the way I wanted. Where I spent my time was much more important.

To keep things brief, after nine and a half amazing years, we had to say goodbye to Misty. Our big, strong protector who we rescued in August of 2009.

After saying goodbye to Misty on Tuesday morning, I decided to take the day to rest and spend the rest of break going at whatever pace I wanted. And that is pretty much exactly what I did!

If you read my Spring Break 2019 To Do’s and Bucket List, you know I had a lot of high hopes for break.

Given everything above, here is what I actually accomplished this week:

  • I did get to go to the phone store and they told me all I had to do to have my phone replaced was make a phone call! How easy is that? Can’t wait to have a fully functioning phone again!
  • Doctor’s appointments! Done and done. On Monday too! So over with before the week even really got started.
  • Wrote my accounting paper… that my professor emailed us about the first Sunday of break. It isn’t due for a couple of weeks, but I wanted to get it done before my work starts to pile up again!
  • I wanted to make a study outline for my Philosophy midterm that I’m taking the day classes start back up. You could say I sort of did this. Instead of a summary outline, I typed up all of my notes and reread almost all of the material from my books.
  • I wrote out most of my economics paper! Just have to polish it up and add a graph or two before I submit it on Tuesday!
  • Sleep! I definitely slept a lot over break and I’m so glad I was able to do so
  • Trying three new recipes felt like it was a bit of a stretch, but I did it! I tried a new pancake recipe that I wasn’t thrilled with, made up a recipe for a fruit crumble that I brought back to school with me, and I made a King Cake for Mardis Gras! I used Strength and Sunshine’s New Orlean’s Gluten-Free King Cake recipe (completely vegan and allergy-free!) and I can’t wait to make it again!
  • As a family, we caught up on NBC’s Blindspot, which is one of our favorite shows
  • I edited all of the best photos from the last photoshoot I shot and sent them off
  • You already know if you read my Spring Break Bucket List that I was totally going to check the last item off, no matter what. Yes, I watched all of the Jonas Brothers content that’s came out on the Late Late Show this week, and a fair amount of interviews with them as well! I’m not one to get excited for new music but I can’t wait to see what they’rve been working on

In addition to everything else, I picked up an old sudoku book I had lying around my room and completed 24 of the “difficult” level puzzles. I brought it back to university with me and am determined to finish the book. After I complete the “difficult” puzzles, the next level is “fiendish” … who names a level fiendish?! I guess I’ll have to wait and see how difficult they truly are.

And with that, I conclude my 2019 spring break review. I know it probably wasn’t what you were expecting, but when is real life ever what’s expected? I ended up coming back to university the Monday classes began. Monday morning that is, instead of Sunday morning, and that last night at home was much needed. Now after a week back, I’m getting back to the swing of things. Just waiting on that spring weather to show up, while simultaneously dreading the allergies, of course!

Happy almost spring, friends.
