As most if not all Gilmore Girls fans know, the four part Netflix revival series came out today. I’m writing this post while my family walks the dog (currently in the middle of the second episode), but in case you aren’t fortunate enough to be home for the holidays or have a six hour time chunk to set aside, I won’t be spoiling anything here. I promise.
If you want a quick refresh before the revival, below is a list of five episodes to rewatch. Some are my favorites, some have so much character development you could write a novel about it, and others are just too funny to leave out.
1. The Big One
Season Three, Episode Sixteen
Headmaster Charleston forcing Rory and Paris to work together was great, but the announcement Paris decided to make in front of a room of Chilton alums and CSPAN was what truly made this episode unforgettable.
2. The Lorelai’s First Day at Yale
Season Four, Episode Two
I can only hope that my first night at college will hold a candle to Rory’s. Now I just need Lorelai to come with me and be my personal nutritionist.
3. You Jump, I Jump, Jack
Season Five, Episode Seven
Here we see Rory truly throw caution to the wind for her craft, and her conviction and dedication is admirable. Her escapades help her develop throughout the rest of the series, and I may be just a little bit jealous of this episode’s adventures…
4. ‘S Wonderful ‘S Marvelous
Season Seven, Episode Four
Even if you don’t like the man, the date Lorelai went on was adorable and perfect for her. You can’t deny that. And who didn’t love seeing Emily’s antics? That’s what lands this episode on the list.
5. I’m a Kayak, Hear Me Roar
Season Seven, Episode Fifteen
This episode is the definition of character development between Emily and Lorelai. I love how even so late in the series there are still big moments that can show you a completely different side of a character you thought you knew so well.
Now I’m off to finish this episode, what do you think of this list? Let me know and be sure to share this with the Gilmore Girls lovers in your life!
