My Holiday Wellness Haul

December 31, 2016

I thought I’d try something a bit different and do a wellness Christmas haul.  This is everything that I got for Christmas that is specifically spoonie or wellness related, so the items on this list are either to help mitigate the symptoms I experience from my chronic illnesses or are for the general betterment of myself and my health.  There seemed to be a theme for my Christmas, nearly everything I got fell into or between wellness and warmth.  Obviously these two things are very important to me, so good job family and good job santa!

Essential Oil Diffuser

The first thing that I got that was wellness related was an essential oil diffuser.  I am so excited to start using this because I’ve seen that it’s been helpful for many other spoonies.  I’ve never thought about using an oil diffuser before, but I can’t wait to try this one out.  Plus, it has seven different color settings and an option to keep the light off if you want it to be dark.  It’s supposed to be “whisper quiet” but I haven’t tried it out yet.  When I do, I’ll be sure to write a review for you guys!

Essential Oils
Of course with an essential oil diffuser you need essential oils!  I got lavender, frankincense, rosemary, lemon, and tea tree.   I’ll have to do some studying to learn what’s what in the world of oils.  If you have a favorite oil combination please let me know!  I’m new at this.

Hooty

hooty heating pad
This is Hooty.  Hooty is a heat pack, filled with specially treated millet grains and dried lavender petals.  He’s supposed to be helpful for sore muscles and pains, and guys, I’ve only had him for a few days but I’m already in love.  You heat him up in the microwave and he stays warm for hours, and the lavender has definitely been helping me sleep.  I’ll be doing a full review of Hooty soon!

Adhesive Body Warmers

This is honestly one of the presents I am the most excited about.  I have a lot of trouble with body temperature regulation and as a result, it’s not uncommon to find me wrapped in blankets with a few jackets on, multiple pairs of socks, a hat, and gloves, sitting next to a fire trying to warm up.  I have high hopes for these, and I will be letting you know if they’re worth trying.

Journal

I’m someone who has a million ideas a day and forgets 999,999 of them.  My best friend knows this, so she sent me an adorable journal to help me try to keep track of my countless thoughts.  She wrote me a little letter in the front of it that is super cute and I love that I have it to read whenever I want.  Definitely a good gift idea if you have a friend who lives far away.

Dead Sea Mineral Mud

I got mud for Christmas!  Every girl’s dream, am I right?  This mud is from the Dead Sea and is supposed to help maintain cell’s metabolism, clean the skin, restore natural moisture, and leave your skin “smooth, bright, and fresh.”  It’s for all over body use and I can’t wait to give it a try.  Glowing skin, here I come!

Dead Sea Spa Treatment Mask

I’ve never tried a sheet mask before, so this will be exciting!  This product contains salts and minerals from the Dead Sea and is described as a “facial therapy” that “moisturizes, firms, and rejuvenates.”  There are five masks, so if I absolutely love this treatment, it’s not a one time deal!

Blankets and Fuzzy Socks

As I mentioned earlier, I have body temperature regulation issues.  Thanks Dysautonomia.  Do you think my family and friends are trying to help?  I wear a pair of fuzzy socks almost every day and am heartbroken when they’re all in the laundry, but I don’t think that’ll be a problem any time soon!  (Not all of my new fuzzy socks are pictured here because most have been worn and are in the laundry…I really love fuzzy socks)

Natural Beauty Skin Care by Deborah Burnes

This book will probably soon be my bible.  I am all about natural and DIY skincare, and I cannot wait to dig into this and learn all I can.  Since switching to the oil cleansing method, my skin feels incredibly soft and much more moisturized.  It has definitely brightened and evened my complexion, and I will not be going back to store bought cleansers anytime soon.  I can’t wait to read about new ways to incorporate natural DIYs into my skincare routine.

That’s all for my little holiday wellness haul; if you’d like to see more posts like this, let me know!

That’s great that you got so many gifts related to wellness and management of your chronic illnesses! What a great haul: never heard of Hooty before but I love him! I had a similar themed Christmas. It’s so wonderful to have people taking care of us through their thoughtful gifts.

I’m really enjoying lemon and rosemary right now! Not together though, I tend to mix lavender with lemon sometimes and that can be nice! I admittedly haven’t tried them all yet, but those are my favorites so far. They also help calm my dogs down – an added bonus!
